SwedePro Nine-Layer Chain Saw Chaps, 36˝L

 

A full nine layers of Engtex™ padding protection, developed exclusively for use with chain saws. Upon contact with a chain saw chain, the fine filaments of the Engtex fabric are drawn into the saw to obstruct the moving parts and chain. The outer layer is constructed of water- and oil-resistant 1,000-denier Cordura® nylon. Two interlocking buckles on each leg, and a 1-1/2˝W interlocking waist buckle that is adjustable from 30˝ to 42˝. Machine washable.
Chap lengths are total length—not inseam. Measure from your waist to the top of your foot for correct sizing.
Meets Leg Protection for Chain saw Operators enforced by OSHA Regulation 1910.266, classified by UL® using ASTM Test Method F1414 in accordance with ASTM Standard F1897.

Warning: No one can guarantee that an injury will not occur or will be less severe because an operator wears this protective garment. It is not intended to substitute for good safety procedures in chain saw use. This garment is intended to, under limited conditions, assist the wearer in reducing the severity of injury from a running, gasoline powered chain saw which accidentally contacts the saw operator’s leg. Even with this garment, severe personal injury can result from contact with the rotating chain. This garment contains pads of cut-retardant material designed to reduce the risk of severity of injury to the body parts covered by the pads. In some contacts, the protective pads in this garment may resist the cutting process only for a fraction of a second. The actual degree of protection afforded will vary with the speed of the chain, the time and the angle of the contact, the power and torque of the saw, the design of the chain saw sprocket and similar factors. Follow all manufacturer’s instructions with regard to the use and care of this garment. Failure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions may result in the garment no longer having the capability of providing the minimum protection set forth by ASTM Standard F1897.
This garment is NOT designed for use with electric chain saws due to their continuous high torque.

Just letting you know, the chaps did their job. The chain just “tapped” the chaps; chain locked up tight. Full throttle did not move the chain on large saw. Wanted to attach picture – impressive – pants filament exploded to lock the chain.
